The future of America begins today!
0 comments Posted by I'm not sure I'm an adult yet at Tuesday, January 20, 2009
It is crazy to think that what most Americans witnessed at 12:05pm today will be in the history books when my children go to school. It is a great thing to say that you have lived history, and it is even better when it's good history. A history that shows a brighter and better future for all. To me it isn't just his race (which is bi-racial, although it seems many do not see the white side)but that fact that President Obama is not former President George W. Bush. His thoughts and ideas are fresh and new. He is an articulate man who speaks to the people, not above the people. I was happy to hear how much my 8th graders got from President Obama's speech this afternoon. He spoke his knowledge in words that allowed those of all literacy to understand his goals and wants for this country. And he spoke those words with much passion, making us all feel the power behind those words.
It has been a long eight years. Those years brought much hurt to our country and it's people. Many fallen soldiers and now many unemployed. If only we could wake up tomorrow with everything being where it was eight years ago before President Clinton switched places with President Bush. I recently heard Bush say that now President Obama must inherit the recession that he inherited. Although we all know there was not a recession before Bush's time.
It also amazes me that the only times I have heard President Obama described as bi-racial is by children. Conner today and a 10 year old on the news today pointed out that he is not just the first black president, but in fact the first bi-racial president, which to me means more. He is not black nor white, but both. He is of a race that condemns him for favoring a side, when in most cases it is easier to side with the race that is more prominent in your appearance.
I am just happy that today is the beginning of the future. Let's hope it is a brighter and more economically stable one. It is also the beginning of better speeches! Thank you former President Bush for all the laughs.
And I was happy to read today that President Obama wants to change the funding for planned parenthood and fund programs that do not only focus on abstinence but on birth control and prevention. Maybe the teen pregnancy rate with drop.
And we also can not forget that Michelle looked beautiful today and their two daughters are as cute as can be. Except for the Kennedy's they must be the cutest family in the White House ever.

So I am loving Death:A Life. There is nothing funnier than personified Death telling his life story, while also explaining the creation of the world. Both in the view of creation and of evolution. I recommend it to everyone, it is hilarious.
Well that is all for now.
The hills are alive with the sound of music
0 comments Posted by I'm not sure I'm an adult yet at Monday, January 12, 2009I just titled my post with lyrics from The Sound of Music, a musical that my undieing love for Julie Andrews can't provoke me to like. What is wrong with me?
Is it true? Oh yes it is! I have finished the Twilight series (or saga as Stephenie Meyer likes to call it). It is done! And I did not cause any physical harm to myself expect for actually reading it. The last book is by far the worst and could have easily been edited to half its volume to get the story out. The ending was boring and dull. And it felt like Meyer got her self into a little jumble when she had Alice & Jasper leave which then turned into a whole crazy spiral of a story to get herself out of it.
When I closed Breaking Dawn for the last night I immediately picked up a book that didn't have the names Edward, Bella, Carisle, Esme, Alice, Jasper, Emmett, Rosalie, Renesmee, Charlie or Jacob in it. I chose a book that, hopefully due to good writing, didn't use the same adjectives over and over again; such as cold, hard, topaz, russet, hot, chagrin, and other repetitive descriptive words. There will be no sparkling vampire or shape-shifting werewolves. There will be no half-mortal/half-immortal babies. Well at least I hope these are things that will not contribute to my new literary adventure. I have chosen Death:a life as my new book. I have shelves upon shelves of other books that I have bought that have been waiting to be read, and this is a more recent purchase, but I just wanted a laugh. I do in fact have 2 other books started from different parts of this past fall and a book of Stephen Kings stories Nightmares and Dreamscapes to finish, but this one stood out to me. What could be funnier than reading Death's memoir? It will be nice to hear things from his point of view. Plus it seems like this book may be able to provoke some intellectual thoughts into my little head. Although I will always have my Twilight moments with Mikey and Christina to annoy the living crap out of most of the people we love.
But with that note, my break is over and I have another hour or so to deal with 8th graders.

I Love Zach Braff.
...The End
No wait...NBC was dumb to get rid of Scrubs. Thank you ABC for picking it up.
Oh my God! I love crap tv, and by crap tv I mean One Tree Hill. It has gotten so craptastic it's fantastic. Peyton's preggers, Sam is being held hostage by the guy who killed Quentin and robbed Brooke, Nathan just made a basketball team, it's becoming a soap opera but with better acting. I want more! Do I really have to wait for next Monday's episode?
So I went and saw the real bloodsuckers today and got my blood drawn. With any luck my thyroid will be slow and my doctor will give me a lovely little pill that will let the pounds just melt away lol. Ok so I'm dreaming, whatevs, a girl can dream in this silly little society we live in that sees only the physical prospects of a person. And speaking of dreaming I had some odd dreams yesterday morning during my extra hour of sleep. Which was only an hour because I ended up having to babysit on my snow day.
I have also decided that I want to write a story or what not about...hmm vampires lol. Now I just have to take the time and sort out all the details and what not...ugh! Yea this is why I never really write anything, it's too much work lol.
Well I have to get back to SDMS (sadface) but I get to see Kenny after yay!
And no, I haven't finished Breaking Dawn yet.
