The future of America begins today!

It is crazy to think that what most Americans witnessed at 12:05pm today will be in the history books when my children go to school. It is a great thing to say that you have lived history, and it is even better when it's good history. A history that shows a brighter and better future for all. To me it isn't just his race (which is bi-racial, although it seems many do not see the white side)but that fact that President Obama is not former President George W. Bush. His thoughts and ideas are fresh and new. He is an articulate man who speaks to the people, not above the people. I was happy to hear how much my 8th graders got from President Obama's speech this afternoon. He spoke his knowledge in words that allowed those of all literacy to understand his goals and wants for this country. And he spoke those words with much passion, making us all feel the power behind those words.

It has been a long eight years. Those years brought much hurt to our country and it's people. Many fallen soldiers and now many unemployed. If only we could wake up tomorrow with everything being where it was eight years ago before President Clinton switched places with President Bush. I recently heard Bush say that now President Obama must inherit the recession that he inherited. Although we all know there was not a recession before Bush's time.

It also amazes me that the only times I have heard President Obama described as bi-racial is by children. Conner today and a 10 year old on the news today pointed out that he is not just the first black president, but in fact the first bi-racial president, which to me means more. He is not black nor white, but both. He is of a race that condemns him for favoring a side, when in most cases it is easier to side with the race that is more prominent in your appearance.

I am just happy that today is the beginning of the future. Let's hope it is a brighter and more economically stable one. It is also the beginning of better speeches! Thank you former President Bush for all the laughs.

And I was happy to read today that President Obama wants to change the funding for planned parenthood and fund programs that do not only focus on abstinence but on birth control and prevention. Maybe the teen pregnancy rate with drop.

And we also can not forget that Michelle looked beautiful today and their two daughters are as cute as can be. Except for the Kennedy's they must be the cutest family in the White House ever.
